So, I watched 3 idiots for the second time and I just have a feeling that it’s going to be my go-to movie everytime I’m feeling down. Seriously, it just has a way of creating a bubble of positivity in my heart every time I watch it. Not to mention the song Aal Izz Well, which is an instant mood lifter not only for me but also my 3 year old friend Gia, who actually puts her entire fist in her mouth in her attempt to whistle whenever she hears it.
The end of the year/beginning of the new year is such a perfect time to have released this movie. I mean, what better way to start a fresh year than to have the “All is Well” philosophy instilled in our minds. Especially, because we always try to start the new year on a very optimistic note, always convinced that the coming year will be “our year.” But what happens one month later? By then the holiday spirit is over and we look at our list of now what seems to be the impossible (a.k.a. new year resolutions) and get extremely bummed out. Really, how am I supposed to lose 10 pounds by next month when I actually ate like a pig during the holidays? And did I really expect to get a promotion when I should really just be grateful that I even have a job in this economy? Seriously, was I on some kind of happy pill when I wrote these? Dump existing resolutions and write new note to self about getting a reality check! Our pessimeter (pessimism meter:P) keeps rising as the year passes.
Watching movies like 3 idiots from time to time is a way to keep all of the negativity in check. It takes us to a happy place where anything is possible and where everything will go well. If you really think about it, 3 idiots has many completely nonsensical scenes. An engineer gives birth to a baby using a vacuum cleaner? A stillborn suddenly comes to life when he hears all is well? But we as an audience loved those scenes despite their silliness because the movie had us engulfed in its positivity and all is well mantra. We all came out of the movie theater with the same kind of positivity. Come on fess up. Haven’t you said “all is well” a couple times after watching the movie?
A psychologist once advised me that watching happy movies or blasting your favorite kind of music is the best way to conquer stress and depression. From experience, I know it works and is definitely worth trying. On that note, I want to dedicate two “power” songs to my readers. One is of course “aal izz well” from 3 idiots and the second is “survivor” by Destiny’s Child. Whenever I hear these songs, I feel that I can take on the world.
Hope you enjoy the videos. More fun stuff coming up so stay tuned.
Kisses,
