Hey everyone! If you’re following me on Twitter, most of you probably already know that I have exams coming up that I’m not the least bit prepared for. Sound familiar, anyone? So, like any good bf would, my boyfriend is coming to my rescue and has offered to guest blog on Splurgerina until I get my act together.
Just a short intro first. If I’m a splurgerina, the best way to describe him would be a frugalist. Opposites do attract!
He’s also super sarcastic and loves writing about gadgets, technology and “philosophical things with a twist.” Right, whatever that means!
Hope you enjoy his posts. I’ll be back soon..miss me!:)
Love,
SK
Just the other day, The Splurgerina reminded me of this interesting trivia, after she watched some Jessica Simpson show. In Uganda, I’ll quote from VH1’s Episode Summary “The Hima tribe values their women as they value their cattle, “the fatter, the better.” That’s right. In fact, a bride-to-be spends about 2 months in a “fattening hut” where she is supposed to have milk and “ghee” to become all plump and beautiful for the wedding. Elsewhere in the world, it would be lethal to think we are complimenting a woman when we call her a beautiful fat cow.

A Girl From The Hima Tribe
Every now and then, we guys face one of the most dreaded questions of all time -- “Do you think I look fat?” We know that we are in for trouble no matter what we reply. Well, you girls know it and probably even enjoy it. When I say this, I say for all the men out there – “This is one question we would probably not be afraid of, if we were in Uganda.” On second thought, would we face a different question i.e. “Do you think I’m too skinny?” Damn it! Women…
The Price Of Beauty’s Episode “Fat is beautiful” is already on YouTube.

Swat! I see women starving themselves to stay ‘slim’. These are the small facts in life that can make you feel good for a moment, at least. And, thanks for the compliment for the alias. Like mentioned above the post, it’s Ms SK who came up with that
She be witty.

Avi: Tell you what, I saw the VH1 site mention ‘ghee’ in the summary of the episode. I really didn’t have the heart to not include it in the blog post. Trivia: Did you know that ‘Dalda’ originated from Netherlands? The word has now become synonymous with ‘Vanaspati’ in India.
