I’ve had short/mid length hair for the longest time now, so last year I decided to change things up a bit and grow out my hair. My hairdresser is given clear instructions to not chop more than an inch, every time I go for trims because I really want to see how long my hair can get. It’s at a good length right now, and I’m going to be a bit immodest and say that my hair has never looked better! I was living in New Delhi for a couple years before moving to NY and all those auto rickshaw/bike rides combined with the humidity and air pollution had really damaged my hair. It was so coarse and lackluster despite the fact that I have virgin hair. Well, thank God, my hair quality has improved tremendously since I’ve moved here. Some random lady even told me I had shampoo commercial hair. Now, isn’t that sweet? Blush! =^_^=
Of course, I have altered my hair care routine a bit too, and it’s been working really well for me. So, here’s my secret. I’ve been using 2 different sets of shampoo and conditioner and I alternate between them every 3 washes. The Aveeno Nourish + Revitalize shampoo and conditioner comes with nourishing wheat complex that protects hair from everyday damage. I’m a big Aveeno fan and swear by their moisturizers, so I was really excited when I heard about their hair care launch, last year. It leaves the hair soft, shiny and tangle free and I felt that it really enhanced my natural waves and gave it lots of volume. It’s really good for people that want their hair to look thicker.
For the days I want my hair to look straighter I’ve been using the Pantene Pro-V Nature Fusion shampoo and conditioner. I have really thick and wavy Indian hair and I’m usually looking for products that weigh it down a little bit, which is where this particular Pantene works magic. I’m not a Pantene fan, but this product has forced me to reconsider. Its natural ingredients like Cassia, avocado oil, bamboo and grape seed extracts work wonders, and I’ve felt the difference in my hair in as little as one wash. No flyaways or frizzies, just a head full of silky hair with lots of shine. I love it!
Once these bottles run out, I’m going to experiment with pairing my shampoo with a conditioner from a different brand. I don’t know why I’ve been buying my shampoo and conditioner in pairs all this time.
So there you go, that was my secret. Try it and let me know how it worked out for you. And if you have some hair secrets of your own, go ahead, share ‘em!
Cheers to glossy, sleek and healthy hair!
XOXO,
SK
