I love Lush! Part of it has to do with my fascination towards all things handmade, but mostly because of the fact that the smell of the cosmetics has the power to seduce me from a block away. I just can’t resist stopping by! And then there products even make you feel like a better person. They use minimal preservatives, don’t test their products on animals, try to use recycled and biodegradable materials in their packaging whenever possible and did you know that they use vegetable-based inks in their print material? Their website is loaded with fun facts and tips on adopting a greener lifestyle. I just love their simplistic yet creative approach towards being eco-friendly.
And this month, there’s more reason to love! In celebration of Earth Day and Mother’s Day, Lush has done away with traditional gift wrapping paper, boxes and ribbons and replaced them with Furoshiki knot-wraps, made from vintage fabrics and recyclable materials. Check this video out by Lush Cosmetics, showing the wrapping process.
What a great idea isn’t it? It would make for such a beautiful Mother’s Day gift wrapper. Your mom can reuse it to wrap another present, or as a scarf, a bag or even a table mat. Mother Nature will be happy too!! 😉
And as for the present itself, here are my top picks from Lush’s eco-friendly naked range. Hey, if you’re going green with the wrapping, you might as well go green all the way!

In Numerical Order: Herbalism Cleanser (for oily & problematic skin), MUM Still Life Flower bath bomb (sunny citrus floral delight), The Comforter Bubble Bar (fruity blackcurrent), Reincarnate Solid Shampoo Bar (henna shampoo for dark locks), Strawberry Feels Forever Massage Bar (strawberries mixed with hibiscus flower)
