And I’m back!! Well, physically anyway. The heart still is where the bf is, who by the way is in LA right now…but more on that later! For those of you who have no idea where I’ve been the past two months (God has it really been that long?!?!), I was on my long-awaited trip to India. And although I didn’t spend as much time with my bf in Delhi as I wanted to (I was in Jammu for a cousin’s wedding most of the time) we were just happy that we got to see each other at all. It is so weird to meet after so long, even though you talk to each other on the phone every day. First of all, I just couldn’t stop smiling when the plane was about to land, and that totally freaked my mom out; but I just couldn’t stop! And then when I met him, I couldn’t stop giggling every time we talked. It was like we had just started dating, with the butterflies and everything, except better because we know each other so well. Seriously, a bizarre feeling!
Anyway, I’m sorry about not replying to all of those who wrote to me; a dingy cyber café in Jammu with snooze fest of an internet speed and with my cousin hovering around me was hardly an ideal way to blog or reply to emails. So I gave up on the idea. Also, it was kind of nice to take a break and reacquaint myself with the world that lies beyond the realms of the internet. Cool stuff!!
Anyhow, I thought it would be fun to fill you guys in on what I’ve been doing/thinking about the past two months, so here’s an update:
1) I finally attended my very first Indian wedding!! I mean I’ve been to the kinds where you go and congratulate the couple, eat, and come back; but I’m talking about weddings of friends/relatives where the celebrations begin a month in advance, where you are there for all the rituals and where you party like there’s no tomorrow. Unfortunately, I had never made it to any of those in the past because we are always moving around (one of the few disadvantages of being a diplomat’s daughter). And I tried really hard to convince everyone I possibly knew to get married in the 6 years I lived in India, but apparently people just don’t want to get married according to my convenience. Bummer!! ;'( Anyway, I happen to make it this time and all I can say is that I’m sooo glad I’m Indian because we have the best weddings ever!!
2) I also got a chance to wear Indian clothes (courtesy the wedding) after two whole years, and I felt sooo pretty in them, I just didn’t want to take them off…ever!! (Read more about my love for Indian clothes, here.) I wore a tan and pink churidar with floral embroidery and sequins for the sagan, a sea green and gold, gem encrusted net anarkali suit for the wedding, and a blue and red lehenga sari with bronze bead work for the reception. I lurrrrrved them!! Oh and this is also the time I took the leap and tried on some red lipstick (what better time than an Indian wedding, right?) and quite liked it on myself! And I have, finally, also mastered the art of using liquid eyeliner without making a mess. Woohoo, I’m going places!! 😛 Next up, I need to master this!
3) Ok, so I don’t usually comment on men’s fashion on this blog, but when you see one too many men wearing superman t-shirts, I have to say something! Yup, I spotted at least 10 guys EVERY DAY wearing one in India! Is this some kind of new trend? Or is there a Superman movie coming out that I’m not aware of? Men, I just want to say that unless you are a) 12 years or younger b) Saif Ali Khan c) wearing it for Halloween or d) are superman, himself, your corny t-shirt doesn’t make you look cool, so please get yourself a real t-shirt!! And ladies, while men are still wearing them why not make it into a drinking game. See a guy wearing a superman t-shirt? Take a shot!! 😉
I shall continue with Part II of this post tomorrow, so stay tuned! See, I just got back ,and so I’m trying to ease into this whole blogging thing. Baby steps! 😉
Come right back, tomorrow!
xoxo,
SK
