Blogging about whites during the summer is just about as cliché as it can get, but ever since the first time I laid my eyes on the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2011 collection, I knew I would have to succumb to this cliché come summer. It has to be, without a doubt, one of my favorite spring/summer collections this year, and as evident by numerous magazine covers and celebrity sightings (see Anne Hathaway, Diane Kruger, Chanel Iman, and more recently our darling RiRi), it is quite popular.
I’m particularly attracted to monochromatic, minimalist looks these days— probably an aftermath of too much talk and fuss over color blocking the past few months— and this collection serves as perfection inspiration. I absolutely love the crisp whites in breezy fabrics, scalloped and eyelet detailing combined with antique lace and crochet, and the seductive, sheer-like quality of the clothes that bring about a very boudoir feel. It just doesn’t get more feminine than this!
So, while the bad part is that not many of us can afford Dolce & Gabbana, the good news is that there are many affordable Dolce & Gabbana inspired clothing available in stores right now. Check out a few pieces that I liked for under $150…

In Numerical Order: Willow & Clay Lace Maxi Dress, Guess Marilyn Corset Top, Guess Meg Romper, BCBGMAXAZRIA Gored Lace Skirt, Topshop Ivory Cutwork Hem Detail Shorts, Modcloth letters home dress, Topshop White Broderie Anglaise Layered Peter Pan Sleeveless Top, Guess rachel skirt, ModCloth Vintage Acoustic Songbird Top, Oasis Broderie Lace Cami, Bebe Shell Puff Sleeve Peasant Top, River Island Short Sleeve Dress With Lace Insert
For the day, wear these pieces with delicate, barely there gold jewelry and natural hair and makeup (here’s a how to). Choose a crossbody bag or a satchel and footwear like wedges, platforms, and espadrilles in neutral colors. In the evening, snakeskin-embossed stilettos/clutch and a red lip would look so luxe! It’s such a comfortable and low maintenance look, and yet incredibly stylish— everything you could want from summer dressing!
Stay stylish,
