First things first: We love how beautifully this frothy pink Giambattista Valli gown blends into the theme of this blog! If we had to pick a look to represent all things Splurgerina this would have to be it—it just fits perfectly, doesn’t it? Great! Now that that’s been said, let’s talk awards season. In case you couldn’t tell already, we are obsessed with red carpet fashion around here (follow us on Instagram to check out some of our favorite award season looks so far), and this year’s spring couture collections boast of [Read more…]

Wrapping up this year’s Golden Globes’ coverage with hair, makeup, and other beauty-related inspiration from the red carpet that caught my attention.
Jennifer Lawrence’s messy chignon; loved the texture created with multiple loose braids within the updo. This sure is going to be a popular hairstyle for weddings!
There were lots of retro-inspired hairstyles on the red carpet, but Rachel Weisz’ voluminous waves stole the show. I loved the deep side parting! One side tucked behind the ear with the other framing the face looked extremely glamorous.
Sienna Miller’s fresh & light makeup that made her natural beauty shine through. Her skin was luminescent! Blue eyeliner, which we saw in abundance at the Fall 2012 Couture runways, looked ravishing on her light eyes.
Lucy Liu’s slightly messy fishtail side braid. We’ve seen this on a ton of celebrities in the past, but they all had mid-length hair. I haven’t seen anyone with long hair wear this look since we last saw it on the models at Alexander Wang’s and Miu Miu’s Spring/Summer 2010 shows. A side part with french braids on both sides merged at the bottom lent a dressy touch.
Marion Cotillard’s makeup reminded me a lot of Sienna Miller’s; they both went for a bare face with blue eyeliner and pale pink lips, but I loved how Marion’s metallic gold eye shadow made her eyes sparkle. Of course, her poker straight hair parted down the middle also ensured that she stood out.
I was actually looking forward to Zooey Deschanel’s nail art, but Anne Hathaway’s pearly nail art took me by surprise! Tiny beads of pearl were glued on to her nails, and according to Allure, they were meant to mimic champagne bubbles. Sorry Zooey, but this time Anne stole your thunder!
A few of my picks from the Haute Couture Fall 2012 runway that I hope to see on the red carpet.
Elie Saab Fall 2012 Couture

1 & 2: These dresses are undoubtedly my favorite from all the shows. And of course they had to be from Elie Saab! If the fashion Gods (yes, they read my blog!) are to grant me one wish from this list, I hope they pick between these two. The lace with the sequins and beading is absolutely breathtaking!
3: The peachy color of this dress is so refreshing, and the gold work ensures that the gown won’t look dull on the red carpet. I think someone like Mila Kunis, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, or the Duchess of Cambridge would look lovely in this.
4: I like how the front of this dress is grey and the back is red. It’s fun!
5: This fuchsia dress would be such a pretty shade on Natalie Portman, and the style is so her as well!
6: I would like to see this mid-length dress on someone tall like Katie Holmes or someone with short hair like Anne Hathaway, or Michelle Williams. Rachel Bilson and Rachel McAdams would look ultra chic in it too.
Giambattista Valli Fall 2012 Couture
7: Very Emma Stone, no?
8: I love the subtle purple accents against the green on this dress, but the print could look a little overwhelming. I hope to see this at least in an editorial, if not on the red carpet.
Zuhair Murad Fall 2012 Couture
9 & 10: These would look really pretty on Olivia Palermo, Freida Pinto, Zoe Saldana, or Zooey Deschanel. Also, I would like to see Keira Knightley attempt this style again; her shoes were a little bit of a letdown the last time around.

So that’s about it! I noticed that I’ve finally warmed up to long sleeves, because I usually tilt towards sleeveless or strapless when it comes to dresses.
Anyway, which one of these do you think is most likely to be worn on the red carpet? Write back with thoughts!
