Oscars 2017 Recap: Our Top Three Favorite Looks

1. Emma Roberts
Although we weren’t completely bowled over by the dress per se, it was the finishing touches that made it one of the winning looks of the night for us. The 26-year old actor brought sustainable fashion to the red carpet with her vintage Armani Privé gown as part of the Suzy Cameron’s Red Carpet Green Dress Initiative (#RCGD)—an annual eco-friendly dress design contest for the Oscars red carpet. Emma paired the black and cream gown with mosaic earrings, which were from the Atelier Swarovski Fine (responsible) Jewelry Collection and subtly drew attention to the plunging beaded bodice of the gown. What really dialed this look up a several notches, however, was Emma’s new “Cayenne Spice” hair color, which was parted to the side in loose waves, old Hollywood style. A matte red lip and bronze eye shadow complemented the look and really brought her beautiful eyes out.

2. Brie Larson
All black usually ends up looking underwhelming on the red carpet, but somehow Brie Larson still managed to look quite charming in her custom-made Oscar de la Renta gown and Aquazzura sandals. The strapless deep-v velvet dress featured a structured bodice with a dramatic ruffled train that fell ever so beautifully behind her as she walked. Her hair was thrown back into a textured but understated knotted ponytail so that the focus remained on Brie’s adorable face and lovely smile. A bright coral lip courtesy Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Famous Red added just the right amount of spunk she needed to stand out.

Olivia Culpo Marchesa - Oscars- 2017- best dressed_splurgerinaImage via Zimbio

3. Olivia Culpo

Just like Emma Roberts, Olivia Culpo stepped onto the red carpet with a mission to make the world a better place. Her custom-made Marchesa gown, made from Stella Artois limited-edition chalices that benefit water.org, was truly a spectacular piece of art (I mean, take a look at this close-up!). It was covered with sparkling beaded tassels, which Olivia happily shook back and forth every chance she got (check out her cute performances here and here), and a delicate black ribbon cinched around her waist. The gown was meant to represent water and therefore had a cascading feel to it.

With a dress like that, Olivia was sure to make it on everyone’s best-dressed lists anyway, but she wasn’t done making a statement! Her unexpected and dreamy lavender smoked eyes (a blend of L’Oréal Paris Infallible Paints Eye Shadow in Shady Violet and L’Oréal Colour Riche Pocket Palette in Violet Amour) and a sleek ponytail wrapped with velvet fabric and accompanied with wet, side-swept bangs ensured that Olivia also make it to all the best Oscar makeup and beauty lists.

P.S.- Head over to Amazon.com if you are interested in buying a Stella Artois “Buy a Lady a Drink” Limited Edition chalice (13 USD).  For every purchase you make, Stella Artois will donate 5 years of clean drinking water to women in the developing world.
