Clockwise: Alberta Ferretti Spring 2011, Lanvin Spring 2011, MaxMara Spring 2011, Akris Spring 2011

Oh how much I love that Alberta Ferretti skirt! Maxi skirts have been something I’ve not shown much interest in during the past few seasons, but I’m singing a different tune of late. I had way too many maxi dresses in my closet, only waiting to be worn at the brink of summer, and I decided to give one of them an edgy, winter twist , recently, by wearing it like a skirt —  with a fitted top, leather jacket, tights, ankle booties, and a scarf. They also look fantastic paired with denim jackets, blazers, slouchy knits, and tucked-in blouses cinched with a belt. The fact that  maxi skirts come in so many different silhouettes — straight/narrow, fishtail, and my personal favorite, the long, flowing, voluminous ones à la Lanvin — is really awesome because it makes it that much easier to find something that flatters you. Come summer, I’m really looking forward to buying something with a subtle sheer or a slit. Meanwhile, here are a couple maxi skirts, for $115 and under, that caught my eye:

In Numerical Order: Warehouse Fish Tail Maxi Skirt, Indikka Crinkled Printed Maxi Skirt, Mango Skirt Faldaza, Free People Desert Florals Maxi Skirt, ASOS Seam Detail Maxi Skirt, Free People Leaves of Memory Skirt

So, are maxi skirts your thing?

Stay stylish,

SK
