Today is one of those days when I feel like taking a break from my usual posts and talking about me. So, you ready? Here are 10 quirky, fashion and beauty-related facts about me:
First up, I love shopping! No not just for clothes, for everything! I find joy in even going to Walmart and picking up groceries. I enjoy buying presents for people just as much as I like shopping for myself. I should really be a professional shopper or something! Thatโs a thing, right? ๐
New things really excite me, which is why I like to keep the little things that keep reminding me of my something new. I donโt get rid of price tags until I finally wear the clothes. I also continue to keep my shoes in the boxes that they come in until the novelty factor wears off!
I tend to wear brighter colors during the winter than I do in the summers. Making sure that I incorporate at least one bright color in my outfit is my way of dealing with the winter gloom.
I splurge the most on shoes and lingerie and the least on bags. I donโt quite LUST after bags and I also get lazy with taking all my stuff out and changing bags often. Lingerie and shoes are a completely different ball game though! Itโs funny how tactfully my boyfriend leads me to another direction whenever we spot either of the two if Iโve already exceeded my shopping budget for the month! ๐
When it comes to beauty treatments, Iโm a big supporter of Indian homemade beauty recipes. I have extremely sensitive skin and my dermatologist completely disapproves of getting facials or using ready-made facial masks. Natural ingredients such as gram flour, rosewater, yogurt, etc work like a charm, without the side effects or the expensive price tag that comes with a professional facial.
I have never straightened or colored my hair, or done any other harsh chemical hair treatments for that matter. My mom forbade me from doing it when I was in school and now I totally thank her for it and embrace my natural hair.
I shop very differently online and offline. In stores, I tend to go with the flow and just pick up random things that I like, whereas online, Iโm always looking for something in particular and my search is more concise.
I always like to plan my outfit, iron it, and lay it all out the night before. If for some reason I am unable to do it, my go-to, no-brainer outfit is almost always a basic tee and jeans with a nice, fitted jacket, some heels or flats depending on how much I have to walk, sunglasses, and a colorful scarf or bag for a pop of color.
Iโve never bought myself a perfume, ever! It has always been gifted to me, and now Iโm just spoiled and would like to keep it that way! ๐ My boyfriend got me Miss Dior Cherie on our first official date together (I swear, I never even uttered a word!) and said that he picked that one because he thought that was the one that most closely suited my personality. And honestly, I couldnโt have picked a better scent for me even if I tried! ๐ณ
My extremely annoying and compulsive list-making tendencies rub off on all aspects of my life, including shopping. I have a document saved as โNEED TO BUYโ on my desktop at all times filled with all the things I want to buy, strategically organized under labels such as โshoes,โ โclothes,โ โaccessories,โ etc. And every time I buy something and delete it off the list, I feel EXTREMELY pleased with my โaccomplishment.โ Yes, EVERY. FREAKINโ TIME! ย ๐
Thatโs all for now. Hope all of you are having a great weekend!
Keep splurging,
SK
