It just doesn’t feel like summer until I’ve splurged on a couple of swimsuits and sunglasses. More on swimsuits later, but it’s officially the time to go shades shopping! Wow, it feels good just saying it. Seriously, I’m a big sun person and need my share of it to get me going; I feel depressed otherwise! Even when I lived in New Delhi (clearly, a very hot city), I made sure I got some sun. My bf calls me Jadoo because of it, who, by the way if you aren’t Indian, is a solar-powered alien from the movie Koi Mil Gaya. Totally cute!
Anyways, ‘Jadoo’ needs a new pair of sunglasses and is on the lookout for some nice retro styles. I’m especially digging cat eye frames and I just HAVE to have a pair this summer. Not the super pointy, futuristic Alexander Wang kinds; those are a little hard to pull off, but something sleeker (I’m bored of the oversized look!) and less dramatic, like these from Dior.
Aren’t these so cute? Love everything about them – the color, the tortoise shell rim and the gold studs. What I especially love about the cat eye style is that the pointy ends tend to highlight your cheek bones. Now, who wouldn’t like that?!?! Here are a couple more favorites.
As you might have noticed, they come in a variety of shapes and sizes; which is awesome because it’s easier to find one that flatters you. So you can pick from a rounded pair, like these from Emmanuelle Khanh, squared ones like these from Chloé or oval ones like these from Paloma Picasso. You can chose between extra pointed ones like these from Tom Ford or something more subtle like the Stella McCartney ones shown above. Then there is a choice between small, regular and oversized ones. Don’t you love it when there are so many options? All you have to do is figure out what shape flatters your face (here’s a guide!) and start searching.
I’m so obsessed with this style, I’m even thinking of getting cat eye prescription glasses! Totally loving these feline glasses from Vera Wang. Very librarian chic, in my opinion. What about you? Are you loving this style as much as me? Would love to hear back, ladies!
