Make sure you stop by Target (select stores) this weekend to get a dose of Jean Paul Gaultier for your closet. I really wish I could see the clothes piece by piece, but from what I see, the clothes look fresh and youthful, apt for many kinds of style temperaments. Says the man himself, “My collection with Target pays homage to the wide range of personalities that make up the diverse styles of American women. From ingénue to rock ‘n roll, this collection celebrates women of all ages and a host of distinctive, iconic American styles.” Well, I’m not sure if it’s for women of all ages, since some pieces in there, like the eyelet halter dress in black/white (Look 11) or the halter dress in yellow seem more apt for the ‘junior’ bunch, but I do agree that there is a lot of variety in terms of style.
There are some edgy rock n’ roll pieces with the leather moto jackets and mesh leggings in tattoo print; some inspiration from men’s wear with pinstripe tailored shorts, skirts, vests and jackets and some super girly and flirty pieces like the lingerie dot dress (Look 3) in green/black, bustier top with shrug in red/white (Look 2) and there’s even an LBD in there!
I’m definitely getting the stripe trench coat in Khaki; for $59.99 it’s a steal! I’m split between the leather moto jacket or the pinstripe vest, but I think I’ll go for the vest since the jacket is $200. From whatever I see of it, the striped bustier dress with shrug in black/white (Look 1) looks cute. The mesh leggings in tattoo print are a bit too crazy for me, but I think the face tee in white (Look 10) is interesting. The strapless eyelet dress in red/white (Look 18) also seems like a cute day dress for the summer months.
So, those were some of my favorite pieces from the collection. What have you got your eyes on? Again, the collection is so versatile, I’m sure everyone will be coming home with something new to add to their closet. Get there soon though; the collection will only be around until April.
