Mila Kunis at the MTV Movie Awards 2011 in LA
The last time I wrote about Mila Kunis in this outfit, I said that I just couldn’t get it out of my head. That was back in June, and since then I’ve practically been stalking every store in the whole wide world (yes, I tend to exaggerate a tad bit) in the hope to recreate this look. Although it’s pretty easy to replicate, finding an affordable skirt that can even come close to the beauty that is this skirt by Balmain has been hard. But the moment I laid my eyes on this fabulous gold leather skirt from Zara, I could see it being styled in the same way as Mila’s. As I said in my last post, what really struck me about her outfit were the contrasting elements— a casual, slouchy black top paired with a luxe, embellished skirt— and this skirt serves the purpose perfectly.
Here’s how you can pull the rest of the look together on a budget –
Topshop Black Oversize Roll Sleeve Tee, Zara Leather Miniskirt, Zara Patent Leather Peep Toe,
Asos Pieces Martine Bracelet, Urban Outfitters Stacked Rhinestone Rings
Special thanks to Avantika who pointed Mila's shoes out to me; I couldn’t find any full-length shots while doing my last post so had no idea what she was wearing. Personally, I like that she picked a nude pair by Charlotte Olympia, since they are subtle and not conflicting with the rest of the outfit. Other colors could have been too garish. I would, however, have picked high heel sandals instead of the pumps. What’s your take on her shoes? Would you have worn a different pair?
I’m leaving you with a few more metallic/embellished skirt options that could be worn in a similar fashion. The good part about investing in these skirts is that they can easily be dressed up or dressed down, and now days it’s even perfectly acceptable to wear them during the day! Just swap the heels for some flats for a casual day look, and wear the skirt with a button-down shirt in a solid color and/or with a blazer for work. That’s at least three looks from one skirt!
Stay Stylish 🙂
