When I was in my early teens I used to think fluorescent/neon clothing was the biggest faux pas ever! But we all know that fashion has a way of making us eat our words sooner or later. So, I’m just going to go ahead and say that I LOVE this trend! I think most of you already know that I, like most Indians, do not shy away from colors, so neon is right up my alley. Also, I just love the idea of being in-your-face and blinding everyone (with some fashion forwardness at least!) from like a mile away. So much fun! ;) Check out some of my favorite pieces below.

Victoria's Secret Ruched Halter Bra Top, Bebe One Shoulder Silk Flounce Dress, Nails Inc. Limited Edition Kings of Neon Collection, Bebe Criss Cross Pencil Skirt, Michele Watch with Turquoise Jelly Bean Strap, Splendid Cutout-Back Striped Tee, JCrew Girls' hat attack endless neon ponyball, United Nude Block Pump, Carrera Endurance Aviator Sunglasses, Deborah Marquit lace boy brief, Michael Kors Dress Belt, ModCloth Highlight-her Necklace, Jimmy Choo Poppy Sandals, ASOS Neon Dreamcatcher Earrings, Dooney & Bourke Venus Large Nina Bag, Full Tilt Bandeau Women's Swimsuit Top

These colors are so fresh; they look good enough to eat! And I really mean that. There is something about these colors that remind me of smoothies and snow cones. Don’t you see it too? :)

Anyway, neon is the quickest way to add drama to an outfit and that is another reason why this trend appeals to me. I’m generally a very moody dresser, so while on some days I pay attention to every little detail, on others I neither have the time nor the inclination to dress in much more than a jeans and t-shirt. Wearing a top or a statement accessory in neon is perfect for days like that because then you can just let that particular piece stand out and keep the rest of the look minimalist. Of course there are women out there who wear two bright colors together and totally work it, but, unfortunately, I’m not that girl. I just end up feeling funny, so I would definitely take the safe route and pair neon with neutrals.

Out of all the colors, I think yellow and orange are my favorites. I’ve been wearing them a lot this summer and I just love what they do for my complexion. Fluorescent green is a bit tricky to pull off and I’m not too fond of the color, but I Heart those United Nude pumps (shown above)! They’ve got a really fun vibe to them.

So, now it’s your turn to tell me what you think of this trend. Whether you love it, hate it, or can’t care for it and are generally wondering what fluorescent yellow panties are doing on my blog, I will, like always, love to hear from you. :)

Love,

SK

PS: My blog post frequency sucks and will continue to suck for a while. My parents are in India right now, so I’ve also adopted the role of a homemaker, along with school. If I’m MIA, just know that I’m cooking, cleaning or doing the laundry. Or I could possibly be frustrated with all this and taking out all my angst on my nails and painting them a spastic color i.e. neon! ;)
