I’m all for having beautiful flowing hair. When I am working though, I mean business and like my hair to be tied and out of my face. Well, most of it anyway. My hair is layered, so the shorter layers tend to fall out – but you get the point, right? So, anyways, usually I just tie it up in a boring ponytail, but I’ve got to say I’m totally digging the whole side braids trend, inspired by Alexander Wang‘s and Miu Miu‘s Spring/Summer 2010 show. I’ve tried it a couple times and it’s just super fast and easy. Just pump up the volume of your hair, part it anyway you like, toss all of your hair over your shoulder and braid it loosely. Voila, you’re done! And don’t bother starting over if it’s not neat or if you have a couple strands falling out, because that’s how it’s meant to be! The messier, the better. Now, how cool is that?!?!
Alternatively, you can also go the Rachel McAdams way, and do major teasing at your crown before braiding. I personally like the first way better, with my hair parted to the side, because let’s just face it, I’m no expert hairdresser. I’m just a girl who likes to look good, without having to put too much effort into doing so. Yeah, I’m lazy like that.
The side braid is fast becoming my go-to hairstyle, especially when it’s really windy out. It keeps my hair in place and saves me from the horror of detangling, later on. Not to mention, how it’s my saving grace for bad hair days! This style is functional, effortless and flirty. I’m so glad I have long hair to pull this off. I’m kissing goodbye to my monotonous ponytails for a while.
