Buy SoulTree Apricot Oil & Honey Moisturizer With Kokum Butter
I really admire people who seem to make life changing decisions overnight and actually do a pretty good job of sticking by them, but for me personally, I feel that a more flexible step by step method of dealing with things works best for me. That said, this year I have decided to be more conscious about the beauty products that I use, and have been trying to slowly incorporate more natural and organic products into my lifestyle. A complete switchover isn’t very practical for me at the moment; there are only a handful of such brands available in India and they tend to be expensive. Also, it does get rather confusing with all the organic jargon being thrown around; you almost don’t even know where to start and whom to trust.
Enter SoulTree. They sent over their Apricot Oil & Honey Moisturizer With Kokum Butter for me to try and without even using the product, I felt like I was in good hands. I just fell in love with their transparency. The sent over a booklet along with the moisturizer that had all the crucial information about the brand (also available on their website), including their certifications (certified NATURAL by Germany’s BDIH agency), what ingredients they use and from where they source them (certified organic farms & natural forests). Reading such a detailed description as opposed to the vague buzzwords that we usually see while purchasing beauty products made for a refreshing change.
Speaking of the product itself, the Apricot Oil & Honey Moisturizer with Kokum butter comes in a solid, transparent, and recyclable (bonus points!) 200ml bottle with a flip cap. The flip cap has its pros and cons since it gets a little hard to squeeze out the lotion sometimes and then you have to keep the bottle tilted for a while for it to work. I can imagine it getting only more difficult to get it out as the bottle gets emptier. On the plus side, the bottle isn’t bulky and a good size to just put in your handbag and take along with you everywhere, so a pump dispenser would have been messy and gotten in the way of that. Personally, as a true Indian who is used to her parents’ constant reminders to #BeEconomical (ring a bell?!), I have the habit of opening up the lid and squeezing out every single last drop of the product I am using, so I don’t mind the flip cap too much. I’ll find a way to empty the contents of that bottle out and make my parents proud. You’ll see! π
Typically, I like to use the body lotion in the morning right after I have showered. It’s very light, peachy white in color and has a medium creamy consistency which could possibly make your skin oily during summers, but for the winter, it’s ideal. I have normal skin, so I find it to be just right and don’t feel the need to apply it more than once a day. I have also been applying it on my hands and it keeps them moisturized longer than my regular hand creams and lotions without feeling greasy. The instructions state that if your face is dry you can use this lotion on your face too, but since I have an oily t-zone, I didn’t take the risk of trying that out.
The moisturizer is a magical blend of apricot oil “cold pressed from ripe Himalayan apricots”, organic ayurvedic herbs, wild honey, and kokum butter, so it’s no surprise that it leaves your skin looking healthy, nourished, and radiant. The apricot oil gives the lotion great absorption power; it easily settles into your skin without having to rub too hard. I also found the scent of the lotion to be quite unique. It smells more like a body oil than a lotion and has that slightly sweet and tangy smell of fresh apricots. It has a mild fragrance that lingers on for a couple of hours, but it doesn’t irritate the skin, so it’s perfect for anyone who is sensitive to perfumed products. It could also be a great complement to layer under a floral/citrus perfume.
Overall, SoulTree’s Apricot Oil & Honey Moisturizer With Kokum Butter is an amazing natural product to invest in if you have dry/sensitive skin or like me, are generally looking to use less chemically loaded products as part of your bath and beauty routine.
P.S.: SoulTree also has an amazing collection of natural lip balms, kohl, under eye cream, and shower gels that you can safely experiment with if you are just starting out and are intimidated by the idea of using facial or hair care products just yet. #GoForIt
If it moisturizes your hands well won’t it be a little too heavy for the face?
Hi Sangeeta,
It depends on your skin type. My body skin type is normal whereas my face is oily, so the moisturizer is good for my hands and body but I wouldn’t apply it on my face. According to the instructions on the bottle and their website, this only works as a facial moisturizer if you have dry skin.
I really like reading through an article that can make men and women think.
