So, on my way to class yesterday, I stopped at Threading & Beauty Salon on 33rd street, between 3rd and lex. I am usually very particular about this kind of thing and just don’t visit any salon; but I didn’t have a choice yesterday because I desperately needed to get a wax and this place was the closest to my class. So, anyway it was nothing fancy; just your average Indian salon with very affordable rates, I have to add! What was fancy however, was the wax they used. When I first saw it, I thought it was really old wax, because it was brownish in color but when I asked the lady, she told me it was chocolate wax! And I wouldn’t even have believed her if the room hadn’t filled up with the aroma of chocolate. Yup, I was officially getting my very first ‘good enough to eat’ chocolate beauty treatment and I hadn’t even planned it! Got to love life’s little surprises. 🙂
From experience, chocolate wax is less sticky in nature which is pretty cool because it doesn’t leave that sticky, wax residue that makes you want to immediately rush back home and hit the shower. Some people seem to think it hurts less but I’m not quite sold on that idea yet. I do think, however, that the aroma of chocolate is therapeutic and helps soothe your nerves; possibly even shift your attention from pain to hunger! 😉 Cocoa also has anti-inflammatory properties, so you can expect less redness and irritation. And yeah my skin feels baby soft.
Chocolate waxing costs just about the same as regular waxing, so do ask your salon lady if they have it the next time you go in for a wax. And for people who like to do it by themselves at home, try GiGi Milk Chocolate Creme Wax. It’s made out of cocoa seed extracts and apparently great for people with sensitive skin.
Hope your chocolate waxing experience is as scrumptious as mine!
Love,
SK
P.S.- Remember that episode in Friends where Monica, Phoebe, Chandler and Joey get locked up in Monica’s room and end up eating her organic wax? Couldn’t resist putting it up! 😀
Here in Delhi chocolate waxing is three times more expensive than regular waxing!!! :'(
Informative article. I also want to say that chocolate waxing is more expensive than regular waxing.
Which wax removes tanning?
Chocolate or Rica??
Hi Hirwa…both work though I personally feel that chocolate wax and regular honey wax are more effective.
