All of us love celebrities, look up to them, and often wonder how they manage to look so gorgeous all the time, no matter how old they are. However, besides having designers dress them and stylists do their hair and makeup, they also consult dietitians, have personal fitness trainers and have beauty consultants who prescribe some extremely exotic and at times, very unusual regimens to keep them looking forever young and beautiful.
Here are some of these truly fascinating, exotic beauty treatments (from head to toe!) that celebrities swear by:
HAIR
Catherine Zeta-Jones credits her lustrous locks to Beluga caviar, shipped especially from Iran! Caviar is said to be a great conditioner for hair as it’s packed with omega-3 fatty acids that repair hair damage and leave it feeling richer and glossier. Her hair is washed with a truffle-based shampoo before the caviar is applied. If you’re cringing, thinking of how gross her hair must smell, don’t worry! They get rid of the odor before use.
And for all those curious souls out there who would like to know what caviar could do for their hair, try Alterna’s Caviar Anti-Aging hair care products. They contain seasilk and together with caviar extract, claim to combat dryness, prevent breakage and restore moisture.
FACE
Karolina Kurkova and Victoria Beckham reportedly depend on the Geisha facial for an ultra clear complexion. This facial consists of a paste made from sterilized nightingale droppings (imported from Japan) and mixed with rice bran. Pretty gross, huh? It costs around $200 to get this stuff smeared across your face and it’s supposed to hydrate skin and brighten and balance skin tones. Apparently, it’s perfect for people with an acne problem!
Now for those who are worried about wrinkles, you can always try the snake venom facial. Gwyneth Paltrow, Madonna and Demi Moore are said to frequent Sonya Dakar’s clinic in Beverly Hills for this one. This is supposed to be an alternative to Botox, as the snake venom inhibits muscle contraction, immediately preventing fine lines and wrinkles.
If you’re also interested in trying snake venom, you can go for Rodial’s Glamoxy Snake Serum, which is reported to be a favorite of celebrities including Kate Moss, Katie Holmes and Naomi Campbell.
HANDS
When it comes to caring for their hands, celebrities love going the organic way. The Recess Organic Nail Spa in LA has a celebrity clientele of the likes of Jessica Alba, Alicia Silverstone, Audrina Patridge and Stephanie Pratt. The spa’s organic and non-toxic therapies include Dead Sea Salt & Sugar Scrub, Garlic Formula Natural Nail Strengthener and Hot Stone Massage Therapy. According to Celebrity Beauty Buzz, Anne Hathaway likes The Musk Try, a treatment that includes a lavender paraffin wrap and Indian spice moisturizer massage.
Another favorite is the Chi – Nail Bar & Spa in Beverly Hills. This spa also uses 100% natural products for their treatments and is frequented by clients like Penelope Cruz, LeAnn Rimes, Jessica Lucas, Heidi Montag and Regina King. Some of their signature treatments include exotic ingredients like green tea seed oil, Himalayan pink salt, jade stone and ginseng.
BODY
Celebrities like Catherine Zeta-Jones, Bruce Willis, Julia Roberts, Madonna and Jennifer Lopez apparently love bathing in wine! It’s called vinotherapy and it’s supposed to increase blood-flow, exfoliate, detoxify and brighten the skin. Apart from a wine bath, there are also other therapies that use wine and/or oil extracted from the seeds, skin and pulp of grapes. You can go for the honey and wine wrap, for example, or a honey, sea salt, and grape seed oil scrub! Hmm that sounds so relaxing, doesn’t it?
If you also want to try vinotherapy, but aren’t quite ready to hit a spa for it, you can try products from D’vine – a skincare line that uses grapes, grape seeds and wine extracts in their products.
DERRIERE
That’s right! Dr. Harold Lancer from Beverly Hills is famous for giving tush facials (tushials?) to many celebrities. Hey, it’s a good investment if you’re supposed to do a nude scene or are wearing super skimpy bikini bottoms right? Getting a tushial (yes, I’m actually using that word!) is similar to a facial with the addition of a massage for firmness and cellulite reduction. Smooth Synergy, a New York City spa offers a fanny facial that includes an exfoliation with papaya mint body scrub, followed by microcurrent therapy to tackle bumps or lumpy appearance and to tone the derriere. The treatment ends with an organic spray tan all over the body. Good day for the booty, huh?
FEET
Heard of the Garra Rufa (or Dr. Fish) pedicure right? It was featured on The Tyra Banks Show, as well as an episode of Ugly Betty, where Vanessa Williams got one. Even Gul Panag got one and posted a twitsnap saying, “This is freaky! Garra Rufa fish giving me a pedicure! Feels quite nice after a while.” And apparently this one is a hit with men, as well! The Garra Rufa fish nibble off all the dead skin cells that helps promote circulation, leaving your feet looking healthy and baby soft. The treatment is followed by a foot massage and a standard pedicure.
If you decide to get one, remember to play footsie with your partner, later, because he sure is going to love it! 😉
So, which one of these would you try? I think I would try all of these at least once! But you know which one scares the hell out of me? It has to be the leech therapy that Demi Moore is famous for! Creepy!! God the price these celebrities have to pay to stay beautiful!
Write back with comments and if you know of more celebrity exotic beauty practices, I definitely want to hear about them.
Keep splurging,
SK
