It was like 30 degrees out today, so I decided to stay in and experiment with some makeup. As I’ve said before, I really don’t wear that much, but I do like playing up my eyes occasionally. So today I decided to try and experiment with the smokey eye a la Kim Kardashian and Rani Mukherjee. Well, it didn’t work. Those makeup tutorial girls on youtube make it seem like it’s a cakewalk, but for people like me who are new to makeup, the result isn’t pretty. It looked like somebody punched me in the eye. Nuh-uh. Not cool.

So until I become a smokey eye pro I was thinking of getting my hands on CoverGirl’s Smoky Shadow Blast.  This shadow stick promises sultry smokey eyes in just 2 easy, breezy steps. Use the rounded end over the entire lid and the angled end along lash line and crease and you’re done. Yup, that simple!

Except that it’s not. I’ve been hearing a lot of mixed reviews on this product. The makeup gurus on youtube say that apparently this product creases like crazy if you don’t use a primer and the tip of the angled end is thick and hard to use. From the videos that I’ve seen, I do feel that the end result isn’t as bold as I would like it to be. That’s too bad because Drew Barrymore’s eyes look fantastic in the commercial and print ad.

Anyways, I’m still in two minds about buying this because I do feel that it might work as a good base for eye shadows and make it easier for me to do a smokey eye. The colors are really pretty too. I like the onyx smoke, purple plume and the citrus flair.  At $8.50, the price isn’t too bad either.

If you’ve used this product, do write in with your comments and help solve my dilemma.

Much love,

SK
