Maybelline New York Lip Polish in Glam 7
This product had me pleasantly surprised from the get-go, and who doesn’t love that?! When it arrived (courtesy Maybelline India), I thought that “lip polish” was just a fancy name for lipstick. The shape of the tube and its compact size make it look like a lipstick, but it’s actually more like a pigmented lip gloss or as Maybelline likes to call it– a “liquid color balm”. The casing, clear with a silver cap, is also quite lovely to look at, so brownie points to Maybelline for the stylish packaging!
The lip polish has a liquid-like consistency and is extremely glossy, but due to its rich pigments, it is listed under the lip color section of Maybelline‘s website instead of the lip gloss section. I received Glam 7, which is one of the lighter colors in the collection, but I still only had to apply two coats for it to set smoothly. It is a peachy coral color with no shimmer, and even though it is light, it still does a good job of covering up fine lines on the lips. It’s not my favorite color in the collection (the reds and purples are a lot more appealing to me), but it’s a shade that will flatter most skin tones. It’s simple enough for everyday use, but I can imagine it going equally well with a smokey eye or colored eyeliner/eye shadow for a party look.

What really makes this product stand out for me is how moisturizing it is. The glossiness might disappear after 2-4 hours (though it leaves a light stain), but your lips will continue to feel hydrated for much longer. It actually does feel more like a lip balm and less like a sticky and drying lip gloss formula. I like to wear a lip balm before applying lip gloss or lipstick, but this product is sufficient on its own and leaves my lips feeling buttery soft.
I usually have a combination of either a tinted lip balm (love these!) + lip gloss or a lip balm + tinted lip gloss in my bag at all times, but since this lip polish does such a great job of serving as a lip color, lip gloss, AND a lip balm, it’s now become my favorite travel companion. At Rs.450 (buy it here!), it might cost more than your average lip gloss, but it certainly has all the right trappings for you to keep coming back to it!
