Well, well, well, exciting times ahead! As you all know, Spring 2015 Couture Week just wrapped up a little over a week ago, and with Oscars right around the corner, I’m eagerly waiting to see some of the dresses from this year’s show on the red carpet. Overall, my favorite collections were from Jean Paul Gaultier and Armani, but you can scroll down to see [Read more…]

A few of my picks from the Haute Couture Fall 2012 runway that I hope to see on the red carpet.
Elie Saab Fall 2012 Couture

1 & 2: These dresses are undoubtedly my favorite from all the shows. And of course they had to be from Elie Saab! If the fashion Gods (yes, they read my blog!) are to grant me one wish from this list, I hope they pick between these two. The lace with the sequins and beading is absolutely breathtaking!
3: The peachy color of this dress is so refreshing, and the gold work ensures that the gown won’t look dull on the red carpet. I think someone like Mila Kunis, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, or the Duchess of Cambridge would look lovely in this.
4: I like how the front of this dress is grey and the back is red. It’s fun!
5: This fuchsia dress would be such a pretty shade on Natalie Portman, and the style is so her as well!
6: I would like to see this mid-length dress on someone tall like Katie Holmes or someone with short hair like Anne Hathaway, or Michelle Williams. Rachel Bilson and Rachel McAdams would look ultra chic in it too.
Giambattista Valli Fall 2012 Couture
7: Very Emma Stone, no?
8: I love the subtle purple accents against the green on this dress, but the print could look a little overwhelming. I hope to see this at least in an editorial, if not on the red carpet.
Zuhair Murad Fall 2012 Couture
9 & 10: These would look really pretty on Olivia Palermo, Freida Pinto, Zoe Saldana, or Zooey Deschanel. Also, I would like to see Keira Knightley attempt this style again; her shoes were a little bit of a letdown the last time around.

So that’s about it! I noticed that I’ve finally warmed up to long sleeves, because I usually tilt towards sleeveless or strapless when it comes to dresses.
Anyway, which one of these do you think is most likely to be worn on the red carpet? Write back with thoughts!
WHO, WHAT, WHERE: Freida Pinto in a nude sequined Resort 2012 Valentino dress during the premiere of Trishna at the Toronto International Film Festival & Olivia Palermo in a Valentino Spring 2011 gold embroidered tulle dress at Montblanc "Collection Princesse Grace de Monaco" world premiere presentation in Monaco.
WHY: Sheer fabrics, tulle, and sparkles are right up my alley, so this hardly comes as a surprise; I think the dresses are beyond gorgeous and both Frieda and Olivia wore them exceptionally well. Besides the fact that they wore Valentino, the two looks are also quite similar in that they both went for a classy updo and chose to pair their dresses with equally striking accessories. While Freida added more embellishment to her look via her Jimmy Choo peep toes, Olivia threw some feathery details into the mix with her clutch and what appear to be the sandals she designed for Stuart Weitzman (Love them!). I get really amazed when people don't let an already opulent item of clothing intimidate them into keeping the rest of the look relatively low key. There is a certain element of surprise that comes with that, which I absolutely love.
This is exactly the reason why I picked Olivia and Freida over Keira Knightley for favorite look this week. Her Elie Saab Couture dress is stunning, her makeup is flawless, and I think she looks so adorable in her bob, but her shoes just ruin the look for me. The plain nude pumps are absolutely boring and oh so predictable! I think that she should have either picked pumps in a darker color or picked a nude pair with embellishments; something like this would have been nice!

So, that’s my opinion. But I’d love to hear yours, so do write in and share your favorite look among the three!
